Brown Sugar Cookies
2 cups brown sugar1 cup butter
3 eggs, beaten
1 tsp. baking soda
2 Tbsps. hot water
4 cups flour
1 heaping tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp. vanilla
- Cream sugar and butter until fluffy, then add eggs.
- Mix soda and hot water, add to mixture, mix well.
- Mix flour, baking powder and salt and add to mixture one cup at a time.
- Add vanilla.
- Chill batter thoroughly. This is a very soft dough, but it can be handled nicely if chilled.
- Roll and cut.
- Bake for 7 to 9 minutes until lightly golden at 350 degrees, do not overbake.
